167 Miles of Yarn comprises two glass elements, connected by wool yarn wound around a large cone between them, represented by a large-scale photograph. The work’s narrative (or yarn) is of the fragile and complex nature of a new, long-distance (167 miles) relationship as two separate lives become interwoven.
The cast glass fingertip, worn on the body, expresses the intimacy of touch and the connection between two people as their relationship develops, while the ‘woven’ glass reflects the complexity and intricacy of such a relationship.
A sense of harmony and balance is created by the space between, allowing the separate elements to breathe while still connected.
